With just two days under our belt at Durango Mountain Resort, Me and Ruchu were both greeted by several employees in all departments with warm smiles.  I felt very special and exclusive as ski instructors, liftys, and even the rental staff all welcomed us back by name.  With a gorgeous new pair of demo ski rentals provided to me, I decided to attack the slopes with force.  By accident, I discovered that I had the ability to do some air jumps on skis.  So with that being said, I had spent the later day skiing the terrain park.  Its been exciting watching my ski abilities advance.  I was very emotional at the end of the day realizing I may have to kiss the slopes goodbye for the season, I really can never get enough.But for now, Once again, Durango does not let the fun end after the lifts shut down. This time the Beach or the mountain's base area had a DJ outside in the sun jamming away for a great cause; relief of Haiti.  We met many new friends once again with apres drinks.  I even got to experience the swanky, luxurious Durango Mountain Club where you are privately served next to cozy fireplaces overlooking the the heated pool and spa directly under the mountains.  Just one of the many offered amenities there. Merely a 40 minute beautiful, scenic drive from Downtown Durango to Silverton/ Molas Pass we did The Red Mountain Snowmobile Tours.  Owner Jim and his son took us out for two fun filled hours over their self groomed trails.  With tons of hills, curves in the terrain, we had a blast.  Midway up the mountain Jim let us cut loose off the trails within sight so we can rip the snowmobiles around f

Merely a 40 minute beautiful, scenic drive from Downtown Durango to Silverton/ Molas Pass we did The Red Mountain Snowmobile Tours.  Owner Jim and his son took us out for two fun filled hours over their self groomed trails.  With tons of hills, curves in the terrain, we had a blast.  Midway up the mountain Jim let us cut loose off the trails within sight so we can rip the snowmobiles around for a bit.  This is when I had a grin from ear to ear.  Later with a few awesome, picturesque photo stops along the way, we climbed all the way up to our last stop up above 12,000 feet.  What an incredible sight.  I still remember the mountains silhouette in my head.  Absolutely Stunning!Back in Downtown, Durango we caught a comedy show at The Durango Arts Theater.  Very sharp, clever, quick, wit talent.  I was impressed by the actors natural improve abilities.  The crowd would shout out topics to the cast from A to Z and the actors would always manage to continue the act and punchline with much creativity.  This is just one of the many performing arts events to catch at the Durango Arts Theater.  ^DBClick here for one of our many picture albums from Durango, CO. Out of three months in Colorado we all had our own personal favorite activity.  However, We all agreed that Snow Bikes were on the top of each of our favorites list.  Durango Mountain Resort is one of the very few Mountains that offer The Brenter Snow Bike to ride and rent.  I was so thrilled with the snow bikes specifically because you can do tricks and runs on it your first day that would take a skier or snowboarder seasons to learn.  With four points of stabilization on the bikes I was comfortable and able to ride down in between tree trails, catch air, and do all the difficult blue runs.  Snow Bikes are bound to be a hit.  I found it inspiring how the Snow Bike makes it possible for more health challenged persons to participate on the slopes with their families.  People with knee problems, older generations, or the ones who consider themselves "uncoordinated", or not athletic are all the types of people I met first hand that were given a second chance on the Snow Bikes.  After the lifts start to shut down, I usually am bummed but this time, the fun was not over just yet.  At the base of the lift, Steamworks Brewery set up a Clam Bake and brew celebration complete with DJ and Hawaiian Luau motif on a perfect sunshine day to benefit the local Search and Rescue team.  For lunch, I prefer The Village Market and Deli for something quick, and healthy bringing you back to the slopes feeling replenished. ^DB View less

Lucky for us, this time we were in Purgatory at Durango Mountain Resort. All I heard about this resort was the fact that it was small and friendly. I think people forgot to mention that there were many terrains to explore, on both sides of the mountain. Its not small but there is a small population on the slopes so more often than not, it feels like you rule the runs. With with no queue on the chair lifts, one doesn't need to spend time waiting and you don't have to stick in runs away from the base area to avoid the crowd. After riding for two days in the powder, I was tired! Its hard to say no to snowmobiling, so we were off to Monarch Mountain. This time we were with Monarch Snowmobile tours. We were set up to have a snowmobile tour around the historic and scenic areas of Garfield. So we headed up in the snowmobiles, to enjoy the 360 degree scenic vistas and explore the ungroomed trails. Then, we were off to a cabin up in the mountains to enjoy some lunch! We were ripping at times but at times with the windy paths allowed our guide to get ahead of us. One lesson I learned for the day, you didn’t have to be crazy to run into trees! Thank god, I didn’t hurt myself or wreck the snowmobile, but I did slide into trees at times and had to ask the guide to pull the snowmobile out.  It is definitely a sport for speed seekers or to0, for families to explore new heights of the mountain ;). Lucky for us, we had reservation at Laughing Ladies Restaurant, I cannot rave enough about the food I had there, it was so fresh and the flavor was strong and aromatic. Since I cannot get enough of Colorado lamb, I ordered "Cabernet braised Colorado lamb shank, mashed potatoes, winter greens." I dont know how they did it but I drool even when I think about it! April and Greg's company for the dinner just made it unforgettable! For the first time since I have been on the road, I felt like I was home with my friends enjoying a fresh meal. Once we were up and around the Nordic ski area, I could see the beauty that everyone had raged about Crested Butte. It was a great work out too. Now that I have started to enjoy the slopes, I have realized that skiing is a family sport. It is amazing to watch little kids learn how to ski by their instructor in small groups! There were instructors even for disabled people; whether one was 5 years old or 50!Organizations like Adaptive Sports Centre were offering programs to empower disabled people with self-confidence, with a support from family and friends. Therefore, we had an instructor and a volunteer giving us a lesson. I was sitting on those skis the whole afternoon with the rush of wind against my face and the thrill of skiing down the hill. I could not help but wonder, how much joy programs like this brought to people and their families, who never thought they would enjoy this sport, I knew I was in safe hands with my skis tied to my instructor and a volunteer near me! Which is why places like Pagosa Hot Springs Resortin Pagosa Springs, CO are a complete blessing.  No matter if your skiing, snowboarding, sledding, hiking, or biking, soaking in the hot springs will put your body back into its place.  The sighs I let out of ease after my first dips in the hot springs are almost tangible.

Which is why places like Pagosa Hot Springs Resortin Pagosa Springs, CO are a complete blessing.  No matter if your skiing, snowboarding, sledding, hiking, or biking, soaking in the hot springs will put your body back into its place.  The sighs I let out of ease after my first dips in the hot springs are almost tangible.  At Pagosa Springs there are 23 different natural pools to choose your soak in.  My favorite was the Lobster Pot right on top of the San Juan river.  This pool was entirely natural with no plastered pool built around it with an intense temperature of 113 degrees.  I was so thankful that all pools were perfectly placed within a few steps of lower temperature pools where I could participate in contrast bathing; again aiding in my bodies restoration.  The beauty of Pagosa Hot Springs is breath taking and one of a kind.  Be sure to check out my picture album here.  ^DB View less
